I picked the vignette Sold because it says how strong she really is. It tells you that she doesn't want to show how weak she is by crying, because then Mumtaz will know that all she has to do to make her cry is confine her. She does everything she can do to let her anger where it says "I pound on..." and then "But I do...".It is also letting you know she is not going to give up that easily into prostituting herself.

first I agree that lakshmi is TRYING to be brave but honestly Lakshmi goes down so easily and lets herself be told there is no escape when honestly wouldnt you rather be dead then being repestedly sold for sex.
