1. Elie

My Life, Lil Wayne & The Game

This song reminds me of Elie because of so many times he wishes he were dead, the connection he feels with god, and because they took his loved ones one by one.And of how, so many times trough out the book he thinks of killing himself. through out the day, he tried to find a way to survive. of how they took them from the ghettos to the concentration camps. of how the Nazis didn't care who was there, they just killed whoever they wanted for no good reason, so many men that Elie saw hanged. Of how bad Hitler hated the Jews. of how bad he needed his father. of how much he prayed so that they'd be OK. Of how Elie wondered why was that happening to him and the rest of the Jews. And of how Elie saw so many sons leaving their fathers and sometimes even killing them.

And I'm grindin' until I'm tired

Cause they said you ain't grindin' until you tired

So I'm grindin' with my eyes wide, lookin' to find

A way through the day, a life for the night

Dear Lord you done took so many of my people

I'm just wonderin' why you haven't taken my life

Like what the h*** am I doin' right?

My life

Take me away from the hood, like a state penitentiary

Take me away from the hood, in a casket or a Bentley

Take me away, like I overdosed on cocaine

Or take me away, like a bullet from Kurt Cobain

Suicide, I'm from a Windy City, like Do or Die

From a block close to where Biggie was crucified

That was Brooklyn's Jesus, shot for no f***** reason

And you wonder why Kanye wears Jesus pieces

Cause that's Jesus people, and Game, he's the equal

Hated on some much Passion that Christ need a sequel

Yeah, like Roc-a-Fella need a Sigel

Like I needed my father, but he needed a needle

I need some meditation so I can lead my people

They askin' why,why did John Lennon leave The Beatles?

And why every hood n**** feed off evil

Answer my question 'fore this bullet leave this Desert Eagle

We are not the same, I am a Martian

So approach my Phantom doors with caution

You see them 24's spinnin'? I earned 'em

And all the pictures of me and Em, I burned 'em

So it ain't no proof, that I ever walked through 8 Mile

And since it ain't no Proof, I'll never walk through 8 Mile

Sometimes I think about my life, with my face down

Then I see my sons and put on that Kanye smile

D***, I know his momma proud

And since you helped me sell my Dream we can share my momma now

And like M.J.B., No More Drama now

Livin' the Good Life, me and Common on common ground

I spit crack, and n***** could drop it out of town

Got a Cris', call my estate, I'm never out of bounds

My life used to be empty like a clock without a round

Now my life full, like a chopper with a thousand rounds

Walk through the gates of hell, see my Impala parked in front

With the high beams on, me and the devil sharin chronic blunts

Listenin to the Chronic album, play it backwards

Shootin at pictures of Don Imus for target practice

My mind f***** up, so I cover it with a Raider hood

I'm from the city that made you m*********** afraid of Suge

Made my grandmother pray for good

It never made her happy, but I bet that new Mercedes could

Ain't no bars, but n***** can't escape the hood

It took so many of my n*****, that I should hate the hood

But it's real n***** like me, that make the hood

Ridin slow in that Phantom just the way I should

With the top back, in my Sox hat

I'm Paid in Full, the n**** Alpo couldn't stop that

Even if they brought the n**** 'Pac back

I'll still keep this m********* c***** back

2. His Faith

Te Necesito, Shakira

He needs God in the beginning of the story and through out the whole story actually. He cries while he prays, and even after he stops praying, he still believes.

3. His first time in a concentration camp

Papa Roach, Do or die

This reminds me of when they go to the concentration because he goes in as one person and comes out a totally different man. Physically and emotionally.

Today I saw my hero fall apart, the one who taught me to be strong, on the outside I look fine, but on the inside I am dying my strength has overcome my pain my love for you remains the same the loneliness is setting in I have no one to free my sins It's never too late to live your life, the time is now, it's do or die it's never too late to live your life, the time is now, it's your to mine Now it's my time to help you out, cuz you were there when I was down, it's hard for me to seal this way losing all your sanity you helped me, keep my dreams alive , without you how would I survive it's time for me to be a man now I finally understand It's never too late to live your life, the time is now, it's do or die it's never too late to live your life, the time is now, it's your to mine It's never too late to live your life, the time is now, it's do or die it's never too late to live your life, the time is now, it's your to mine I cant run anymore I cant hide anymore I cant run anymore I cant hide anymore Today I saw my hero fall apart, the one who taught me to be strong, on the outside I look fine, but on the inside I am dying It's never too late to live your life, the time is now, it's do or die it's never too late to live your life, the time is now, it's your to mine It's never too late to live your life, the time is now, it's do or die it's never too late to live your life, the time is now, it's your to mine It's never too late to live your life, the time is now, it's do or die it's never too late to live your life, the time is now, it's your to mine I cant run anymore I cant hide anymore I cant run anymore I cant hide anymore

4. His anger toward god

Why God? John Bereford

This song reminds me of how Elie asks God so many questions and of how confused he was. In the beginning nothing mattered, they thought they were just rumors. But then tragedy happened.

Why does Saigon never sleep at night? Why does this girl smell of orange trees? How can I feel good when nothing's right? Why is she cool when there is no breeze?Vietnam You don't give answers, do you friend?Just questions that don't ever end Why God? Why today?I'm all through here, on my way There's nothing left here that I'll miss Why send me now a night like this?Who is the girl in this rusty bed?Why am I back in a filthy room? Why is her voice ringing in my head? Why am I high on her cheap perfume?Vietnam Hey look I mean you no offense But why does nothing here make sense? Why God? Show your handWhy can't one guy understand?I've been with girls who knew much more I never felt confused before Why me? What's your plan?I can't help her, no one can I liked my mem'ries as they were But now I'll leave rememb'ring her When I went home before No one talked of the war What they knew from TV Didn't have a thing to do with meI w ent back and re-upped Sure Saigon is corrupt It felt better to be Here driving for the embassy 'Cause here if you can pull a string A guy like me lives like a king Just as long as you don't believe anything Why God? Why this face? Why such beauty in this place?I liked my mem'ries as they wereBut now I'll leave rememb'ring herJust her

5. The Nazis

Amazing, Kanye West

This song reminds me of how full of themselves were the Nazis. They thought they were,as the song says, "So Amazing". they actually thought they would be thanked by the world. They did make history, but not on the good book. They killed so many people, they are now remembered as monsters. Some of they were forced to do it, but they still did it, Some were proud and felt no pity. Some knew it was wrong, but did not stop. Some apologized, some tried to help, but those some werent enough. They were just trying not to get killed by the Americans, those that were really trying to help. Some as older gentlemen(Nazis) still bragg about it, but I guess thats something we can't take from them; and maybe they think they deserve something better.

It's amazing, I'm the reason

Everybody fired up this evening

I'm exhausted, barely breathing

Holding on to what I believe in

No matter what you'll never take that from me

My reign is as far as you're eyes can see

It's amazing, (huh)

No matter what you'll never take that from me

My reign is as far as you're eyes can seeIt's amazing,[background:] (Kanye, soooooo amazing)

6.The death of Elie's father

Que falta me hace mi padre, Antonio Aguilar

This song makes me remember the way Elie felt about his father. His Father taught him alot of things and Elie felt he lived for his father and that his father lived for him. He felt that if he wasnt with his father, there was a hole in him. and after his father dies, he feels he has no reason to live any longer.

Que falta me hace mi padre,
a cada paso que doy,
Que falta me hace mi padre,
a cada paso que doy.
Ya mi Dios se lo llevo,

que solita esta mi madre,
Ya mi Dios se lo llevo,
Que solita esta mi madre.
Recorrimos, tantas veces, caminos y mas caminos. Eramos

NUNCA

7. Survival

Hasta El Final, Alejandra Guzman

This song reminds me of Elie's survival because evn after all the bad experiences, he never gave up and he struggles to survive. That that is the beginning and not the end of his life. That he can still keep on going and fight to succeed. He doesnt want to look back because hes afraid of loosing what he is and his strength to keep going. And that even after that, he still dreams with the day he leaves the camps.

8. Mojado, Ricardo Arjona

This song reminds me of the whole story because the way they describe the story of an illegal immigrant is very similar to what the Jews suffered. They both say/ said goodbye to their friends, some family and left. They both could only carry a certain amount of objects. The immigrant tries to convince that he is from that country, while the Jews tried to convince the Nazis that they werent Jews. They both carry papers that "prove" they are whatever it is that they're stating they are. They both played/play a part they know they dont belong in. It also startes how a german or an American can walk around w/ no fear of getting murdered; of how the jews that escaped and the mojados have to stay in hiding until it is safe to finally be free. Of how their rights are taken away. How it is to live taking care of your back every second, hiding, crying, unhappy, worried about your family, cold, hungry. And of how we shouldnt be judged by religion or race, that only God himself can judge you by who you are.

Empaco un par de camisas, un sombrero,
Su vocación de aventurero
Seis consejos, siete fotos mil recuerdos.

Mojado sabia a mentira tú verdad

Ass.8 -

The Salute

While I was watching the video, and as they would do their "salute" toward Hitler, I wondered what that salute meant. It was a greeting like a sign of loyalty to their leader. It was used by the Nazi Party to salute Hitler. Although the Italian people thought the salute had something to do with ancient Rome, Hitler and the SS leader Heinrich Himmler believed that it was from ancient Germanic peoples. To salute you raise your arm at about 45 degrees and then you say the words Heil Hitler! said in a firm and loud voice. If you are standing in front of a superior your heels may be clicked. The rest of the crowd will yell Sieg Heil which means Hail Victory.

The Uniforms
I noticed that not all the Nazis were dressed exactly alike. The Nazis liked their uniforms, for you wouldn't receive respect if you weren't wearing one. Hitler had chosen uniforms for every office and for every group. Some uniforms meant that you were in higher in office and others were for war.

Cattle Car Complex- Assignment 2

Summary:

In this story, there is a guy named Adam Posner. He is a lawyer who is trapped in an elevator that got stuck. Apparently, he has a severe trauma from childhood. He was part of all the Jewish people they took to Auschwitz during World War II in Germany. At the beginning of the story, he tries to be calm, but its really hard for him. .After a while he starts to remember what a torture it was to ride in the cattle cars. he starts to remember what it was to suffer the treatment of the Nazis toward him and the rest of the Jews. He presses every button there is. no answer, no movement. In the end the people who fix elevators finally come and take him out.

What I think:

I think he is trying to tell about how other Jewish people felt during the holocaust.

Holocaust- Assignment 1 (Second Nine Weeks)

In the holocaust, nine to eleven million Jews were killed during World War I. the word "holocaust" comes from a Hebrew word, "shoah" which means calamity, disaster, destruction, and catastrophe. This was planned and executed by Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazis) . Other groups were persecuted and killed by the regime, including the Gypsies, Soviets, particularly prisoners of war, Communists, ethnic Poles, other Slavic people, the disabled, homosexuals, and political, and religious dissidents. My Opinion- Assignment 10

I like the blogger because we don't have to be carrying papers or binders around. When the homework is due we don't have to worry about were the paper is and we don't have to turn it in late. I really don't know how we can make it better because i like it the way it is.

Shilpa, The Alcoholic- Assignment 8

Shilpa

Get Drunk

Always be drunk. That's it!The great imperative! In order not to feel Time's horrid fardel bruise your shoulders, grinding you into the earth, get drunk and stay that way.On what?On wine, poetry, virtue, whatever. But get drunk. And if you sometimes happen to wake upon the porches of a palace,in the green grass of a ditch,in the dismal loneliness of your own room, your drunkenness gone or disappearing, ask the wind, the wave, the star, the bird, the clock, ask everything that flees, everything that groans or rolls or sings, everything that speaks, ask what time it is;and the wind, the wave, the star, the bird, the clock will answer you:"Time to get drunk!Don't be martyred slaves of Time,Get drunk!Stay drunk! On wine, virtue, poetry, whatever!"

Shilpa is an alcoholic which is why I thought that this poem related to her. she started drinking when she was very young so that she wouldn't feel so much pain while she was with costumers but now shes addicted to it. It is her way of escaping the horrible world she lives in.

What I Think- Assignment 7

It is very sad to see those pictures because you get to see what those girls are going through. I couldn't imagine seeing in real life everything they have to put up with every day. Beauty, is a young mother that doesn't get to see her 5 yr. old son and has to work every night in that brothel. she is not only abused mentally and physically by customers, but also by her pimp, Gita, who hits her when she "misbehaves". She is one of the best prostitutes in that brothel because she pretends to love the costumer and that is what brings them back to her. She says she just pretends to love them, but she actually doesn't love anyone. To me, that is very sad. she has gotten to the point were she cannot love anyone.

There is an organization called The Emancipation Network (TEN) which is an international organization that fights slavery. They help survivors and high risk communities by giving them economic alternatives and education. They ask the people who they help to make bracelets and jewelry and then sell it through the Internet. The Emancipation Network opened Destiny Productions at the Thomas Clayton Center in Calcutta, India so that rescued slaves can go there instead of going back home or ending up in brothels.

Assignment 3- Man vs Man

There is many conflicts in the book but i think the main problem is when the stepfather sells Lakshmi into prostitution without her knowing so. She is abused, until she does something about it. She finally uses what she has to get out of Mumtaz's brothel to go back home and get Mumtaz into jail. The reason the stepfather sells her is that they need money beacuse he is always gambling the little money they get or spending it on himself.

-pg.52 "The next morning... Bajai Sita's store"

Sold- Assignment 2

I picked the vignette Sold because it says how strong she really is. It tells you that she doesn't want to show how weak she is by crying, because then Mumtaz will know that all she has to do to make her cry is confine her. She does everything she can do to let her anger where it says "I pound on..." and then "But I do...".It is also letting you know she is not going to give up that easily into prostituting herself.
